Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad or ANGKASA, literally means Space, perhaps depicting the unlimited possibilities of co-operation. This national apex co-operative of Malaysia is governed by a representative system. The National Assembly which is held annually approves the ANGKASA annual budget, makes policies and approves any amendments or changes to ANGKASA by- laws.

TIMELINE
- 15 to 17 November 1966 -First Congress negotiating to establish the National Association of Partners Malaysia
- 20-21 March 1971-Co-operation Congress established the second phase of ANGAKSA and initiation of the registration process.
Second Congress held in collaboration is very meaningful to the development of the National co-operation movement. One of the things that will be discussed in this congress was the establishment of the National Level Co-operative Association named ANGAKSA. - May 12, 1971 -ANGAKSA was founded and registered under the name Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) and recognized as the National Co-operative Movement of Malaysia

As the apex organization for co-operatives in Malaysia, ANGKASA plays an important role in guiding the co-operative movement in Malaysia, with the following specific objectives: To unify Malaysian co-operatives and to champion the aspirations and rights of the movement; To represent the co-operative movement at national and international level; To propagate co-operative concepts and principles amongst co-operators and Malaysians in general through educational programmes; and To assist the development of member co-operatives.
The Board of ANGKASA known as the National Administrative Committee (NAC) is chaired by the President and includes a Deputy President, FOUR Vice Presidents, and NINE Chairpersons of the State Liaison Committees and includes ONE representative from the Ministry of DOMESTIC TRADE, COOPERATIVE AND CONSUMERISM and ONE representative from the Ministry of Finance. The NAC oversees the implementation of all policies and objectives of ANGKASA.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) which is appointed by the NAC ensures the effective execution of decisions made by the NAC. The NEC also monitors the daily operation of ANGKASA and makes certain that the organisation is managed accordingly
The Parliament of Malaysia passed 2 new Acts, i.e. Malaysian Co-operative Commission Act and Co-operative Society Act 2007. The Malaysian Co-operative Commission will replace the Malaysian Co-operative Development Department.
